DAY ?????

I just came across this quote on a favourite scrapbooker's blog. From Emerson apparently:

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

I've had a couple of hideous days. A couple of grumpy days and I was feeling a little grumpy again as I contemplated having no fun plans for the 'holiday' tomorrow. But that thinking has gone. Today might have been a grumpy one (heck, it's been a grumpy week....) but tomorrow is a new day and I can make it whatever I choose to. So maybe that's my grateful thing for today. I'm grateful for the sun coming up on a new day.

  2. It's a good thought. It's so easy to slide into habitual behaviours; especially, it seems, the more negative ones! I'm sure you can be in the habit of always being cheerful and smiley too, (but it doesn't seem to always happen quite as easily - or perhaps that's only me... :)
I like his last sentence. I always find that the days I put a good effort into, are the days that I am most likely to enjoy and feel good about. And I like his: 'your old nonsense.' Not the world's, but mine, that I sometimes drag along!
I'm sorry you've had some hideous days! And some grumpy ones.. :)
I'm grateful for a new day tomorrow too. I hope that your's IS fun!
Thank you for the thoughts Bev :)
