The preparations continue.....

Birthday Beanbags I just whipped up!
This seemed a relatively simple craft and I just decided to do it on the spur of the moment. It was simple but still took a little longer than I would have liked. Though, that was my own incompetencies in most cases :)

I've wanted to make some of these for SOOOO long so having them ready for a birthday game on Saturday made the perfect excuse to push me into it. Just wish I wasn't so lazy and quick to look for corners to cut. The blue thread on the pink, green and red bags doesn't look the best :( But there was no way I was changing the thread for every different colour :P

The child is perking up a bit! I am forging ahead with the party plans - just praying he doesn't make any of his lovely birthday guests to get sick as well...... btw what would you do? He hasn't vomited since 3pm on Monday afternoon and that was just saliva mostly. The party is planned for Saturday morning. I'm fairly confident that all will be fine, but in the back of my mind I keep hearing the old advice of carrying the bug for 2 weeks???? But if we all stayed home that long, we'd never get anything done, right?!?!??!

Birthday bits

Today I had a sick child :(
Now here I could begin a good-sized paragraph about how I really don't cope well with sick children but it was actually a rather nice day and I am noticing that as they get older, children are much more bearable when they are sick. For example, they can tell you what's wrong with them, monitor their own intake of food etc. and reach their vomit bowl and project it into the vicinity of the bowl rather than all over the couch :P

Anyway, Lachlan was sick and the suitable remedy was a day on the couch in front of the tv. Might I add at this point, that offering this medication made me queasy and on edge. To think of letting him lie in front of the tv all day.. *gasp*.
I let the kids watch tv for a short while in the morning (while I sleep in) and in the afternoon (while I prepare dinner) but if they've watched too watch I start feeling like a terrible mother and it makes me more than a little anxious! But I am sidetracked again -
Since big brother was on the couch, Hayden deemed it equally appropriate that he sit and mindlessly watch all day too.... Which left me with a fair bit of free time on my hands on a day when it was the perfect weather for doing nothing but indulging oneself.

SO................ It's Lachlan's birthday next Monday and we are scheduled to have a party for him and 13 of his friends + one brother on Saturday. On a recent blog hop I discovered a really cute birthday banner idea here and today seemed like a great time to try it while both children were mindlessly engaged! Her's seems to have an outer circle in solid colour but I didn't want to waste all my cardstock so just did the one. Pretty chuffed with this very simple and quick banner. Hopefully we will be able to go ahead with the party and use it.

(sorry for the poor quality photos. It looks good in real life I assure you!)

But I'm currently taking bets on who will get the 'bug' next and destroy the birthday party plans. At the moment it's at 2-1 for Hayden to be vomiting by Wednesday morning and I will be sick by Friday. It's a sure thing. Want in?

Only time will tell I guess......

Tick for me

There is a youth fireside tomorrow night at Cleveland stake centre. I realised tonight sitting doing some craft that my petrol is rather low again and there wouldn't be enough to get me out to Cleveland. So I volunteered to pick up the take-away for dinner acknowledging that I needed to fill up with petrol before tomorrow.
I feel proud of myself for remembering about the low petrol before I was in a dire situation (which is normally the case)!

Oh, and by the way, my purse is missing again. Last purchase made at the Sara Lee Factory outlet on Wednesday. I have a mental picture of carrying the box and purse upstairs and placing on the bench...... but it is no where to be found. At present that is. It is not at the shop - I already checked. I have a serious case of pregnancy brain at the moment.

The busy month of July

First up in July was our 9year wedding anniversary. I'm still pinching myself all this time later that I snapped up such a great guy. I love him to bits and the rollercoaster has been a blast with you honey!
To celebrate this year we were on a family reunion so the weekend before we dropped the boys at Elliot's parents for the day and then headed up to Mount Tamborine for a meander and lunch. We tried a relatively new place up there called 'The Olive Garden'. It was delicious and we'd recommend it. It was a freezing day up on the Mountain but we got a table in the sun to warm up a little and it was a really nice relaxing day spent in adult conversation and leisurely walking around.
So the next weekend was the Jeffrey Family holiday. We went for a weekend at a recreation centre for a relaxing get-back-to-nature and bond. It was really nice and I really enjoyed this type of holiday.

4 days later we left for our first ever family plane-holiday. We spent 5 days in Melbourne city and surrounds. It was awesome! but not long enough....... The kids loved the plane trip, but Hayden really struggled to sit still for 2 1/2 hours. Other highlights were the trams in the city, Melbourne Zoo, the kids activities at Melbourne Museum (oh, and here's a tip if you're going to Melbourne and have a Health Care Card - it's FREE!!), the snow at Lake Mountain and Mount Donna Buang, the bungalow we stayed in down in the Don Valley and the wonderful family time we had together. Not so good highlights were the cold, and the lack of seats in the pram. We were worried about boot space in the hire car so decided to just take the stroller instead of the Phil and Ted which has 2 seats. It was a HUGE pain having one child walking all the time, or should I say not walking all the time. I read somewhere that pregnant women aren't supposed to carry their older children. Try telling that to the cold, whinging, tired toddler! Here's a few pics. We literally took hundreds.......

While we were in Melbourne it was Hayden's birthday - he's a big 3 year old now! On his birthday I took a couple of little gifts for him to unwrap and we spent the day at the zoo, with dinner and a donut cake back home that night. That Zoo is amazing. Very reasonably priced and so so good. If you go to Melbourne, it is a must-visit even if you don't have kids.
When we got back we had small kids party for him on the Friday and then a family birthday bbq at the park the next day. His birthday seemed to be a 2-week-long celebration because of being away! I will probably post more photos in a separate entry about his birthday.
Then last week we went for our 19week scan. Can you believe it's a GIRL?!?!?!?
I couldn't. Amazing that we have 2 gorgeous sons and are now going to have a beautiful little girl. The boys are ecstatic that they are going to have a little sister and Elliot wanted a girl too. I was the only one hoping for a boy but am now loving the idea of a little bundle of pink. The shopping has begun people!!!! Buying all those gorgeous little baby outfits must be the only thing that gets mothers excited about the fact that in about 11 or so years' time that daughter will hate you and you will endure 6-8 years of horrendous teenage moods and dramas. I've said it all along, boys are much easier and I would rather do without the teenage daughter years but alas, I apparently need that adversity in my life...... so bring it on! I'm ready for you young lady!!!! But watch out, you may have picked the wrong mumma. hehehehe
